2006 New Hanover County Middle School Champions - 3rd year in a row! Coach Williams, Christina, Morgan, Savannah, Drew, McKenzie, Crystal, Courtney, Lindsey, Dana, Allison S, Allison D, Hailey, Michel, Amanda, Madison, Tori, Carly, and Coach Taylor.

At 5:17 pm, Myrtle Grove Middle School completed its first undefeated softball season! While previous teams have come close in recent years, (11-1 in 2004, and 10-2 in 2005), the 2006 edition of the Lady Gators closed the deal and recorded a perfect 12-0 season with an 11-1 victory over the Lady Knights of Roland-Grise.
Another relatively slow start quickly gave way in the third inning as the bats woke up and the Grove Girls scored 4 runs in the 3rd to break a close 1-0 game after two. Morgan knocked a big double that turned out to be a run scored, while Allison D continued her hot streak with another double. Dana got her third hit and second RBI of the season. Savannah, Drew, Courtney and Amanda all scored runs.
Amanda and Crystal turned in a great pitching performance by giving up no walks, only one hit, and striking out 9.
For the graduating 8th graders, it was the end to another championship season. For the 6th and 7th graders, it was the first of hopefully more championships for Myrtle Grove softball!
Congratulations girls on bringing home a 3rd straight championship for Myrtle Grove Softball!
